Over recent months, families from across Kent have shared their experiences, reflections and concerns through Kent PACT’s SEND White Paper engagement activity, including our webinar series, surveys and wider discussions.

Across these conversations, several key themes consistently emerged:

EHCP experiences & accountability

Inclusion and school experiences

Communication and trust

Access to support

Consistency of provision and legal protections

Concerns around future SEND system changes and routes to challenge decisions

Information, advice and guidance for families

The extensive feedback and lived experiences shared by parent carers have now been incorporated into Kent PACT’s wider strategic work and shared with the local authority and commissioners as part of ongoing SEND reform planning for Kent.

We are pleased that the strength and depth of feedback gathered from families has been welcomed, and the next phase of this work will include sharing the findings with local MPs, alongside wider discussions with partners to support strategic planning around how parent carer voice can continue to be meaningfully embedded within future SEND developments and decision-making.

As this work progresses, we remain committed to ensuring parent carer voices continue to be represented, heard and reflected in future conversations around SEND reform and service development.
